Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month.  This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport.  Our male selection for November is Sophomore Poloist Jake Burns.

Sophomore Jake Burns exploded onto the scene with an outstanding sophomore campaign and led the Cougars back to the CCCAA State Final Four.  Burns was one of two sophomore leaders on a team that spent the first two months of the school year without a head coach.  In the process he also went from being the team's 14^th leading scorer as a freshman to the Cougars' offensive catalyst.  Burns was in top form in the post-season and scored 17 goals and dished out 20 assists as the Cougars went 6-2 in November.  He finished his sophomore campaign second on the team with 71 goals and set a Cuesta record with 78 assists, which also landed him second on the State Leader Board.  Burns efforts did not go unnoticed at award time, he was selected to both the 2023 All-State and All-Western State Conference First Teams, while also begin accorded All America honors.  

 Cuesta Men's Water Polo won the 2023 Western State Conference title and reached the playoffs for the 44^th straight year.  The Cougars took 3^rd place at the CCCAA State Finals.
