2022 CCCAA State Finalist Anthony Erikson opened his sophomore season by taking the 2023 Tour de Cuesta title. Erikson cleared the four-mile course in a time of just 22:04.1, which is the 4th fastest time on record by a Cuesta Harrier, and helped lead the Cougars to the Team Bronze in the six-team event. 2022 all-Conference Harrier Axel Reich was the second Cougar to cross the line. Reich finished 9th in the 37-man field with a time of 24:13.3, which lopped a full three seconds off his 2022 Tour de Cuesta time. Sophomore Jorge Merced and Freshman Gabriel Irwin finished in 14th (25:54.6) and 17th place (26:20.0), respectively, to give the Cougars four runners in the Top 20, while Freshman Kyle Shatwell crossed in 24th place (27:41.1) to complete the Cougars scoring team.
The Cuesta Harriers are back in action next Friday at the Moorpark Invitational. The early morning race begins at 10 AM on September 1 and includes a tour of the Moorpark College campus.
