
Softball has moved its Western State Conference game against Ventura on Thursday to a Noon start, up from 2:30. This is the second of three WSC games scheduled between the Pirates and Cougars. The Bucs squeaked out a 3-2 victory in their first meeting, which was also both teams' WSC opener and they play in Ventura again on April 4. The Pirates currently sits atop the WSC Standings with a 1.5 game lead over the 2nd place Cougars. Cuesta's non-conference doubleheader against #2 Monterey Peninsula, currently, remains on the schedule for Saturday (12/2 PM).
The Cougars split another non-conference twinbill against Citrus in Glendora on Tuesday. The Cougars earned a five-inning, run-rule victory in the opener, 16-8, however the host Owls turned the trick in the nightcap with a five-inning, run-rule win of their own, 9-1. Shortstop Reese Tartaglia accounted for seven of the Cougars' 17 runs on the day. She went 2-for-4, including a Double, while scoring twice and driving in five runs. She leads the Cougars with 15 RBI on the season. Cuesta is 9-8 overall this season.
