In 2002 the Cuesta Athletic Department established and named the Warren Hansen Scholar-Athlete Award in recognition of former Cuesta Athletic Director Warren Hansen's 36-year commitment to academic excellence. A Hansen Award winning student must maintain a 3.5 GPA and is also nominated based on their citizenship and athletic performance. This year's winner of the Female Warren Hansen Scholar-Athlete Award is Two-Sport Star Hailey Hallford
2024 Cuesta Women's Soccer Player of the Year Hailey Hallford earned all-Western State Conference First Team in both her sports, Soccer and Softball, while maintaining her perfect 4.0 grade-point average. Hallford was the recognized as Cuesta Soccer's Athlete of the Year and as Cuesta College's top female academic athlete. On the pitch, she controlled the middle of the field with deft footwork and keen instincts to set up her teammates, while posted seven points on the season. On the diamond, she patroled centerfield with a Gold Glove, while ignited the Cougars' offense with her .420 batting average.
Hallford earned all-WSC Academic team after all four of her seasons of competition. She has completed 54.5 units with a 4.0 over her two complete years at Cuesta College.
Hailey shall represent Cuesta at the Conference and State level as Cuesta College's CCCAA Women's Scholar Award nominee. Her nomination will move forward to the conference level in September.
Cuesta has earned more CCCAA Scholar-Athlete Awards than any other community college. Cuesta's 2024 Hansen Scholar-Athletes of the Year, Cager Drew Ardouin (San Francisco) and fellow Track & Field Athlete Savannah Shoemaker (California), were named to the 2023-24 CCCAA State Honor Roll (Top 15 in the State).
