Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month.  This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport.  Our female selection for December is Sophomore Forward Sydney Howe.

Sophomore Forward Sydney Howe helped lead women's basketball to a 5-2 record during the month of December including a consolation title at the Grossmont Tournament.  Howe averaged 12.1 points and 7.0 rebounds per game during the month, while also adding 16 assists and six steals.  Howe, a two-year starter, has been a keystone player for the Cougars, thanks to her ability to play and defend any position on the floor.  Her all-around play has made her an integral part of the Cougars' game-plan, she has started 43 of her 39 games for Cuesta, while averaging 31 minutes a game during her Cuesta career. 

Women's Basketball shall begin Western State Conference play this month and will be chasing its first playoff berth since 2015 and its first conference title since 1982.
