Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month. This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport. Our female selection for January is Freshman Guard Reese Pasternik
Freshman Reese Pasternik announced her presence on the first day of the season by posting the first triple-double in program history, while leading the Cougars to a school record 108 points in a win over Foothill She has not slowed down and continues to lead the Cougars and during their first swing through the Western State Conference. During WSC play, Pasternik has led the Cougars with 17.7 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.8 steals, while also dishing out 2.7 assists per contest. Her season average of 18.3 points per game, would place her 4th on the Cougars' all-time single-season list, while her free throw and three-point percentages are both currently among the Cougars' Top 5 all time. Pasternik and her teammates are chasing Cuesta Women's Basketball's first playoff berth since 2015.
The Cougars begin the second round of Western State Conference play when they host Santa Barbara City on February 3.
