Pasternik and Lacy Earn All-WSC Honors

Women's Basketball landed two players on the 2024 Western State Conference teams after finishing 5th in the seven-team circuit, which boasted four Regional Semi-Finalists, and earning the program's first playoff berth in a decade.  The Cougars ended the season with a 14-15 overall record, including a 3-9 mark in WSC play.  Freshman Guard Reese Pasternik (Bakersfield) and Abigail Lacy (Arroyo Grande HS) were both accorded first team honors by the Western State Conference.

Freshman Guard Reese Pasternik (Bakersfield) made an immediate impact on the program.  She posted the program's first recorded triple-double and helped set a program record with 108 points in the Cougars' season-opener against Foothill.  On the season, she led the team with 17.9 points (4th all time*), while also pacing the team with 8.3 Rebounds, 2.2 steals and 0.5 blocks per contest.  A true Marksman, Pasternik also led the team and moved to 7th all time at Cuesta in shooting percentage on her three-pointers (36.3%) and set a school record by shooting 86.8% from the free throw line. Pasternik was also second on the team with both 2.7 assists per game and overall field goal percentage (40.5%).

Sophomore Forward Abigail Lacy anchored the Cougars in the paint, but also scored in bunches from the perimeter.  Lacy ranked second on the team with both 14.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.  Lacy was always a double-double threat and her 6.6 rebounds career rebound average earned her the 10th spot all time at Cuesta, while her 20-rebound game against Reedley on December 2, 2022, tied her with four other players for the Cuesta record.  A two-year starter, her 734 career points rank 5th all time at Cuesta.
