Women's Basketball Handles El Camino, 79-22

Cuesta Women's Basketball took down visiting El Camino in another dominant performance, 79-22 and improved to 5-4 on the season.  The Cougars, who scored 102 points on Wednesday, paced themselves after jumping out 19-5 in the first quarter.  The visiting Warriors came out to play in second quarter, which was a near even, 9-8, in Cuesta's favor, however the host Cougars still went into the intermission with a comfortable 15-point lead.  The second half was all Cougars as they closed out the game with a 51-9 second half advantage, including holding El Camino to just two points in the 4th quarter.  2024 All-WSC First Team Guard Reese Pasternik, who set a new school record with 42 points against Porterville on Wednesday, settled for a game-high 21 points, while also pulling down nine rebounds.  The Cougars backcourt duo of Bella Musolff and Morgan McElhenie controlled the game for the full forty minutes.  The duo combined for 30 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and nine steals; including eight thefts by the felonious Musolff who spent the evening picking the Warriors' pockets.   Cuesta remains just one game above .500 after their first nine games but own the point advantage with 64.5 points per game, while their opponents check in with only 58.8 points per contest.

Cuesta will close out this week's three-game homestand against #28 Cabrillo on Saturday Afternoon (3 PM).  The Seahawks, whose men's team lost to Cuesta last week, are currently five spots below the 23rd-ranked Cougars, despite a 6-2 overall record.  Tonight's victory at Cuesta Stork Gymnasium is the program 300th home triumph!
