Athlete of the Month
December 2024
Basketball
Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month. This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport. Our female selection for December is All-WSC Guard Reese Pasternik
Returning All-WSC First Team Guard Reese Pasternik picked up where she left off last season as the most complete player on the floor every night. Pasternik, who owns the only recorded triple-double in Cuesta History, specializes in filling up the box score. She currently ranks among the State's Top 100 players, from 91 official teams, in four major statistical categories. She currently leads the Cougars and ranks 17th in the State with 19.1 points per game, including a school record 42 points in a victory over Porterville on December 4. However, Reese is more than just a scorer and her 3.3 assists per game rank 64th in the State and her 2.4 steals per game landed her at 90th in the State, although she also trails teammate Bella Musolff in both categories. She is also second on the team in rebounds behind fellow 'Bakersfieldian' Kaylee Batten, 10.5 (25th) to 8.5 (66th).
The Cougars begin completed their preconference schedule with a 9-6 record. They begin Western State Conference play in nearby Santa Maria on January 11 and return to Stork Gym on January 25th, when they host Moorpark (5 PM)
