The visiting Moorpark Raiders jumped out early against the Cougars and held on for the victory, 80-54. The Raiders, ranked #4 in the State, claimed a 19-8 advantage after the first quarter, but the Cougars regrouped and outscored the high-ranking visitors in the second quarter, but still trailed by ten points at the break, 41-31. Moorpark added four more points to their lead after the intermission, but the Cougars, playing with a short bench due to injuries, were unable to rally in the final quarter as the Raiders put the game away with a 19-6 advantage over the last ten minutes of play. The Cougars' post-combination of Kaylee Batten and Fiona Durham gave the Raiders trouble and kept the Cougars in the game. Batten scored a dozen points and pulled down eight rebounds, while Durham led the Cougars with 17 points and nine boards. Point Guard Bella Musolff also added a dozen points to the Cougars' cause. The setback dropped Cuesta to 10-7 overall and 0-1 in Western State Conference (WSC) play.
The Cougars travel to Oxnard this Saturday (1 PM) for another WSC Men's and Women's Doubleheader. The Cougars own an 11-game winning streak against the Condors, which dates to the 2016-17 season.
