
Cuesta Women's Basketball entered this season without a victory over local rival Allan Hancock since the pandemic, but Cuesta snapped that streak in Santa Maria in January 11, on the first day of Western State Conference play, 69-68. The one-point game came down to the wire, but tonight in San Luis Obispo, the Cougars, despite needing an overtime more than increased their margin of victory, 58-53. Cuesta picked up the season sweep, over their rivals and the Cougars moved into in Third place in the WSC; a half-game ahead of Bulldogs but trailing both #4 Moorpark and #15 Santa Barbara. 2024 All-WSC First Team Guard Reese Pasternik led all scorers with 24 points in the contest but got some help from her backcourt mate Point Guard Bella Musolff, as well as Forwards Kaylee Batten and Fiona Durham to help secure the victory. Musolff dished out her 200th career assist over the past week and her total of 208 slides her into 3rd place all time, just four behind Maya Armenta (212), but still well behind Kelly McKay's (1997-98) all time at Cuesta standard of an even 300 assists. Batten was the game's second leading scorer with 18 points, while Durham grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds, and missed her own double-double by just one point.
