Cuesta Women's Basketball enjoyed their final home game of the 2024-25 season. The Cougars recognized their sophomores in a pre-game ceremony, then went out and beat #15 Santa Barbara City, 65-60. The visiting Vaqueros held the Cougars at bay for the first three quarters but could not put them away. Mid-way through the final quarter Cuesta's all-WSC Guard Reese Pasternik scored her 1,000th career point and with that milestone conquered, she added five more points to help secure the victory. Pasternik, who ended the game with 21 points, is now the Cougars' all-time leading scorer, but the Cougars also received huge performances from Forward Kaylee Batten (pict) and Guard Bella Musolff. Batten scored 15 points and pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds for her 20th double-double of the season, while Musolff added 10 points and dished out eight assists. Cuesta is 17-10 on the season and their 8-4 conference record, still leaves the Cougars in Third place: one-game behind Santa Barbara and four games down to the circuit's undefeated WSC Champion, #4 Moorpark,
Cuesta has closed the regular season strong and is hoping to ride their four-game winning streak, which included their first win over Ventura in thirty years, into the post-season. The CCCAA Seeding Meeting shall take place this weekend and, as the third-place team in the WSC, Cuesta shall be sitting behind #4 Moorpark and #15 Santa Barbara, as well as the rest of the top teams in the State. Cuesta has played ten games against the State's current Top 25 and holds a 2-8 record against them. Last year the Cougars snapped an eight-year playoff drought, and they are hoping to make it consecutive playoff berths for the first time since 2015
