Wrestler Jesse Stoy commits to Ottawa University

Sophomore Wrestler Jesse Stoy has committed to Ottawa University in Kansas.  Stoy competed for the Cougars the past two years, unfortunately, he wrestled behind a pair of ranked teammates, who were also the team's most valuable wrestlers- Anthony Stenschke (2018) and Juan Camacho (2019).  Stoy was 1-8 over three weight classes as a freshman, but after dropping down and settling in at 197 this year, he climbed into contention and the State rankings. Sadly, Stoy suffered a season-ending injury before regional finals and his season ended prematurely with a 6-6 record. Coach Joe Dansby says, "Jesse's hard work had put him into contention, but his injury kept us from seeing his full potential. He will be missed, but I am glad he has a chance to continue wrestling."

Stoy joins an Ottawa team that wrestles in the NAIA as part of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.  The Braves were undefeated in the KCAC and finished 27th (of 53) at the NAIA Championships.
