Six Cuesta Wrestlers Place at Sacramento Tournament

Cuesta Wrestling hit the mats for the first time since their lone scrimmage last Spring.  The Cougars finished 4th out of 11 teams and six of their nine wrestlers placed in the event's Top 5.  2019 State Qualifier Kai Schaefer (Placerville), at 165, tied with Freshmen Sami Baraket (Danville), 174, and Quinn Patrick (Sacramento), 184, as the Cougars' top finishers.  They each landed in third place of their respective divisions.  2019 All-SEC selection Jacob Yamaguchi (Kapolei, HI) was the Cougars lightest wrestler to place and took 5th place at 157.  2018 State Place Winner Humphrey Quirie (Tuolumne) and Freshman Gabe Carrillo (Simi Valley) joined Barakat to load up the 174-division with Cougars.  The trio took 3rd, 4th and 5th places, respectively.

The Cougars next event is this Wednesday with a SouthEast Conference Double Dual at Moorpark.  The Cougars face East LA at 4 PM and Victory Valley at 5 PM.  The host Raiders will travel to SLO on October 29 to face the Cougars in a pre-Meathead Mover bout.
