Cuesta Wrestling finished 13th out of 20 teams at their 19th Meathead Mover Invitational.  A dozen Cuesta grapplers combined to post a 16-24 record in their duals and all-SEC Wrestler Quinn Patrick (pict) was the team's lone place winner.  Patrick went 2-2 on the day to earn 6th place overall at 174.   2021 State Place Winner Sami Barakat did not place but led the Cougars with four wins on the day, while Freshman Gabriel Rivera added three wins of his own.  Barakat, who leads the Cougars with a 13-4 record for the season, lost his second bout and dropped into the consolation bracket. Barakat earned three wins in the alternate bracket yet was unable to snag a spot on the podium.  Rivera followed the same pattern with an opening win, followed by a spot in the consolation round, and, despite two wins in the bracket. he lost his third and fell from contention.  Cerritos, the 2022 CCCAA Runner-up, outpointed defending CCCAA State Champion Mt San Antonio, 213 to 199, to win the 2022 Meathead Mover Invitational.

The Cougars return to their dual schedule next week with a SouthEast Conference match-up against Bakersfield.  The Cougars are 2-2 in their SEC Duals and can secure their first winning mark since 2015 with a victory over the Renegades.  The match will be a doubleheader with women's volleyball.  The Grapplers host Bakersfield at 4 PM and Spikers take on LA Mission at 7 PM.
