Wrestling had four grapplers compete at the 2022 CCCAA State Championship last Friday and Saturday in Lemoore and the quartet landed in 14th place in the 21-team competition.  2022 All-WSC First Teamer Leon Tippett was the Cougars' top place winner. He took 6th place at 184 with a 3-3 record.  Freshman Gabriel Rivera was Cuesta's only other place-winner.  He wrestled at 125 and went 2-3 to claim 8th place.  Sophomore Quinn Patrick and Freshman Reily Lowry each finished with a 1-2 record in the meet and did not place.  However, Lowry ended the season with a team best 18 wins on the mat, against 13 losses, while Tippett was nipping at his heals with 17 wins.  Rivera and Patrick each boasted 16 wins on the year.  On the season, the Cougars' fourteen wrestlers combined for a 127-158 record in their individual bouts and the team 2-3 in dual meets.  The Cougars finished in the Top 10 in five of their eight tournaments this season.
