Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month. This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport. Our male selection for December is Freshman Grappler Christian Davidson
Freshman Christian Davidson led Cuesta Wrestling all season and shined during December's championship events. After earning All-SouthEast Conference honors in November, he led the Cougars to 10th place at the CCCAA Regional Finals by winning the Regional title and earning an automatic bid to the CCCAA State Championship. Two weeks later, in front of a home crowd, he earned All American honors after finishing 4th, in the 197-division, at the 2023 CCCAA State Championship . Davidson won his first two matches in impressive form, pinning his first opponent in just over a minute and earning a 23-10 Major Decision in his second bout, but was edged out in the Championship Semi-Final. Davidson dropped into the Third-Place bracket, where he landed in 4th place and was accorded all-American Honors. Davidson finished the season with a team-high 25 victories, which included a 24-9 mark at 197, and placed in all seven of the Cougars' tournament during the season.
Wrestling finished 19th at the CCCAA State Championships.
