Cuesta Wrestling finished second among the nine teams attending the 21st Meathead Mover Invitational last Saturday in Cuesta's historic Stork Gym.  The Cougars sent 16 wrestlers onto the mat and boasted eight place winners, including a pair of champions.  Freshmen Preston Scharf (165) and Chance Evans (197) both won titles, while Freshman Grant Eklund (157) also reached the title match, but settled for a Silver.  The Cougars also boasted four other wrestlers that reached a championship semi-final with Daimen Rodriguez (133) and Marshall Beecham (165) both earning a Bronze, while Luke Vanbrabant (149) and Mark Bonenberger (141) landed in 4th place.  On the day, Cuesta sent 15 grapplers onto the mat and posted a combined 34-23 record.

Cuesta Wrestling is back in action this Wednesday (6 PM) for this season's final home appearance, when the Cougars host Bakersfield. The dual with the Renegades shall be Cuesta's final SouthEast Conference event until the SEC Championship in Bakersfield on November 15.  The Cougars are 6-3 in duals this season, including a 3-1 record against the SEC.  Cuesta's six dual wins this season marks their highest win total since claiming 10 duals in 2015, however the program record of 15 dual wins in a season has stood since 1969.
