
Freshman Grappler Chance Evans (SLO HS) held down the upper half of the Cougars' line-up and finished the season in a State Title match. Evans took the Silver, along with his teammate Preston Scharf at 165, to lead the program as the duo became the Cougars' first All Americans since the pandemic. Evans won his first three bouts on his way to the title match, while he sandwiched an overtime win in the quarter-final between a pair of pins, before losing the title match. Evans competed exclusively in the 197-division and posted a 29-7 record on the year, while finishing second on the team in wins. Prior to picking up the Silver at the CCCAA State Championship, he also claimed 3rd at the Regional Meet and earned all-SouthEast Conference Second Team
Cuesta Wresting finished 2nd in the SouthEast Conference and claimed 6th place as a team at the State Meet .
