Women's Soccer Prepares for a Pair of WSC Foes this Week

The Cuesta Kickers prepare for two more Western State Conference games this week.  They host Moorpark on Tuesday (4 PM) and meet #16 Santa Barbara City in La Playa Stadium on Friday (2 PM).  The visiting Raiders, at 6-7, join the Cougars (1-7) as the only teams in the six-school circuit that are both unranked and under .500 on the season.  Both squads are looking for momentum as they near the end of their first swing through the WSC.   On Friday, the Cuesta Kickers make the trek to Santa Barbara City for an afternoon game.  The 16th-ranked Vaqueros have stumbled into WSC play and have only one victory since the first week of September. They are currently 1-1-1 against the WSC loop.

Women's Soccer is currently 1-7 on the season and 0-3 against the Western State Conference.  Last Tuesday the Cougars dropped a WSC contest at Oxnard, 3-0, which marked the first time in the program's history that the Cuesta Kickers overall record has been below .500.  The Cougars won their first match in 1995 and the program spent the next 27 seasons above .500.  Current Cuesta teams like women's volleyball (1976), and both men's (1979) and women's water polo (1999) all began their existence with a loss, however, while ONLY men's water polo has never even endured a sub-.500 season or missed the playoffs, both women's teams have also not been below .500 since their first few weeks of existence.
