Women's Soccer hosted Lemoore College for their season-opener and played the Golden Eagles to a 2-2 tie.  Both teams went scoreless over the first 45 minutes, however the Cougars broke through with a just three minutes into the second half.  The Golden Eagles were caught with a handball in the goalbox, which set up a penalty kick for Cuesta Freshman Taylor Lynch found the back of the net to start the day's scoring and give the Cougars the early lead.  Twenty minutes later, Cuesta appeared to take control of the game, 2-0, with a goal from Shaylee Sargent.  Sargent was the Cougars' leading scorer in 2023 and re-established herself in today's season-opener.   Unfortunately, the two-goal lead appeared to rally the visiting Golden Eagles, who scored twice in the last 13 minutes, including the equalizer with just three minutes on the clock.  The Cougars are now 0-0-1 on the season

Cuesta will keep the "beautiful game" in San Luis Obispo next week as they continue their five-game season-opening homestand.  The Cougars host Taft next Tuesday (3 PM) in search of their first win of the season.
