Cuesta Women's Soccer concluded the 2024 campaign with a loss against local rival Allan Hancock, 4-1, in Santa Maria last Friday. The Cougars lone tally was netted by Freshman Forward Payton Lapp (pict) off a pass from all-WSC Midfielder Hailey Hallford with 13 minutes left in the contest. The Bulldogs scored in their first goal within the first two minutes of the contests, but did not score again until just under five minutes into the second half. They also added two more goals on either side of Cuesta's score to seal the victory, 4-1. Cuesta Goalkeeper Shae Mansfield was busy in the nets and did her best to keep the Cougars in the game with her third double-digit save game of the season. Mansfield turned away 11 Bulldog offerings, which was one shy of her season-best total. The Cougars, who opened their season with a promising 3-1-1 mark, concluded the 2024 campaign with a 4-12-3 overall record. Cuesta joined five other members of the seven-team Western State Conference that boasted a winning non-conference record; however, Allan Hancock had a losing record outside of conference play and with two wins over the Cougars blocked any hopes they had for the post-season. The Cougars have not reached the post-season 2019, the season before the pandemic.
All-Western State Conference awards are set to be released at the conclusion of post-season play.
