Cuesta Women's Soccer landed five players on the 2024 All Western State Conference teams led by lone first team selection Hailey Hallford (Pleasant Hill). The Cougars finished in 7th place in the Western State Conference (WSC) for the second straight year, but Coach Kaleb Lique Naitove's program showed big improvements as he rebuilds a program that has completed only three seasons since 2019. The Cougars started the campaign strong and posted a 3-2-2 record over their pre-conference schedule, before running into a WSC buzzsaw. The Western State Conference boasted five teams in the State rankings at one point during the season and sent four teams to the playoffs, including a pair of regional semi-finalists. The Cougars scored only 13 of their 23 goals on the season during their 12-game WSC schedule, including eight tallies in their two meetings with Oxnard. The Cougars finished the season with a 4-12-3 record and five players, including Hallford, were accorded all-WSC honors.
Sophomore Midfielder Hailey Hallford was the lone Cougar named to the 2024 All Western State Conference First Team. A smooth dribbler and deft passer, Hallford earned her third all-Conference honor as a Cougar. Last year, Hallford earned all-WSC Honorable Mention for soccer and all-WSC Second Team for softball in the Spring. This year, she controlled the middle of the pitch for the Cougars and added a pair of goals and three assists for seven total points on the season.
Freshman Midfielder Taylor Lynch (Bakersfield) and Defender Macy Giubbini (Templeton HS) were both named to the 2024 All-WSC Second Team. Lynch was third on the team with nine points on the season, including four goals and an assist. Giubbini was Cougars' toughest defender in front of the goal and often tasked with marking the opponent's top player.
Forward Payton Lapp (Visalia) and Fullback Emmersyn Vegas (Templeton HS) were both accorded all-WSC Honorable Mention. Lapp tied with fellow Rookie Oneal Hunt with a team-high 15 points, which is the most by a Cuesta player since 2021. Lapp was the Cougars' point of attack on offense and tallied a team-high seven goals. Vegas stepped into a starting role this season and was a defensive leader for a unit that employed three different goaltenders on the season.
