Women's Swimming takes 8th at NorCal Invitational

Last weekend, Cuesta Women's Swimming brought only a trio of swimmers to the 2023 NorCal Invitational in Santa Rosa and, despite not being able to compete in the relay events for double-points, finished 8th in the 11-team field, just behind a San Joaquin Delta team with five-times more entrants.  Returning All Americans Anna Kreowski and Chloe Porter joined Freshman Presley Acosta to rack up the points in their individual races.  They each competed in four individual events and finished among the Top 25 scorers in the 100-woman event.  Kreowski's 2nd place in the 100-freestyle was the Cougars' top finish of the day and her time of :57.01 knocked almost three seconds from her seed time.  She also added a pair of 5th place finishes in the 50-freestyle (:26.39) and 100-butterfly (1:04.96), while adding a team season-best time of 2:05.20 in the 200-free.  Porter made the championship final in both the 50-free (:27.25) and the 200-backstroke, where she posted a team season-best time of 2:31.77.  Acosta also made the championship final in the 100-freestyle, where she placed 4th, two spots behind Kreowski, with a personal-best time of 1:01.32.

Swimming returns to its Western State Conference schedule this week, with a WSC Mini Meet at Santa Barbara on Friday
