Women's Swimming Heads to 2024 WSC Championships

Women's Swimming Heads to 2024 WSC Championships

Cuesta Women's Swimming travels to the Ventura this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for the Western State Conference Swimming Championships.  The Cougars enter the meet in 4th place overall, after Diver Aubrie Kirkby Tatro earned all-WSC Honors by taking 5th place on both boards at the 2024 Southern California Regional Diving Meet. Kirkby Tatro earned 28 points for the Cougars as they enter the swimming portion of the championships.

Sophomore Swimmer Presley Acosta leads the Aqua-Cats into the 2024 WSC Championships.  She is the only member of the team to post a Cuesta All Time Top 10 time this year and has been the squad's leading scorer.  Acosta holds down Cuesta's 5th spot all time in the 200-breaststroke with a time of 2:44.59 but is also the team's top freestyler and backstroker.  The butterfly belongs to Freshman Madison Corrigan, while fellow Rookie Hannah Kempf is solid in any stroke, as well as the individual medley.  Kirkby Tatro used only two events at the diving championships and can help provide some depth in the relays and one more individual event, most likely in either freestyle or breaststroke.  Freshman Sydney Gills will also battle in the freestyle and backstroke events and will join Freshman Cordelia Reilly to provide depth in the relays.  The WSC The WSC Championships will run this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, off campus, at the Ventura Aquatic Complex this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  Cuesta Women's Swim & Dive has claimed 22 titles since 1979, including 2021 and finished 3rd in the State just two years ago.
