Women's Track & Field Loaded Up For Title Hunt at WSC Finals

Women's Track & Field enters the 2022 Western State Conference Finals with seven all-conference performances alright logged during last week's WSC Preliminary Meet.  The Cougars should add several more scoring performances this week.  On the track, Harriers Dulce EsquivelJulia Voss and Jessica Schroeder join Steepler Shannon Ferrall as title threats.  Schroeder, Esquivel and Voss all qualified for the 800m final, while Esquivel and Voss will also add the 1,500m and 5K to their to-do list.  Esquivel and Voss already earned all-WSC honors inthe 10,000-meters, after placing 2nd and 4th in the event final last week.  They currently rank 3rd (40:02.05) and 6th (40:12.28) all time at Cuesta for the event.   Ferrall already ranks 9th all time at Cuesta for the Steeplechase and should move up this week, while also earning a berth to the CCCAA Regionals.  In the field events, all-WSC Leapers Hannah Quimby, Eva Kessler and Savannah Shoemaker will compete in the Triple Jump.  Quimby and Kessler already earned all-WSC honors in the High Jump, while Shoemaker has medalled in the Heptathlon, Javelin and Long Jump.  Quimby will also join Elen Zhu in the Pole Vault.  Zhu is the favorite in the Pole Vualt, but also qualified for the 100m final.  The Cougars also expect to add more points in the Throws, when the Discus and Shot Put our contesteed this week.  Freshman Thrower Makaylie Howell (pict) ranks 3rd all time at Cuesta for the Discus and 7th for the Shot Put.
