Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month. This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport. Our female selection forFebruary is Freshman Harrier Brinley Ewen
Freshman Brinley Ewen has made her mark early in the season. She owns the Cougars' top times in both the 800 and 1,500-meter runs, while landing in second for the non-championship 3,000. Ewen shined in her home debut with a pair of Silvers at the 2024 Western State Conference North Meet. She opened her day by out-legging teammate and Returning CCCAA Finalist Elle Casselman in the 800-meters with a time of 2:24.08. Her time of 4:49.98 in the metric-mile also earned her a spot in the Cougars' All Time Top 10 as the 9th fastest time on record. Earlier in the month, she joined a pair of races at the WSC Relay Meet to post-season highs in two non-championship relays. She anchored the Distance Medley, which posted a time of 13:14.08, and led off a 4 x 800 team that cleared the course in 9:59.63.
The Cougars do not have another home meet this season, but do compete at nearby Allan Hancock on March 8 in Santa Maria
