Women's Takes Team Silver at WSC Coast Meet

All-State performers Madeline Scovil and Grace Gutierrez joined Freshman Harrier Brinley Ewen to lead the Cougars to Second Place at the WSC Coast Meet.  Scovil won her specialty, the Triple Jump (35-11.25), while leading a quartet of Cuesta Leapers past the 30-foot mark, and also took 2nd in the Long Jump (16-5.75).  Gutierrez won the High Jump at 5-1, while Freshman Rian Huffman was the Runner-up at 4-9.  Gutierrez (6th) and Huffman (2nd) also joined Scovil (1st) and Freshman Leah Miller (5th) in the Triple Jump Finals.   In the Lanes, Harrier Brinley Ewen added a pair of Silvers.  She posted runner-up finishes in the 800 (2:24.73) and 1500 (4:46.72).  The Cougars also earned points in the throwing events from Heptathlete Savannah Shoemaker and Freshman Harper Clark.  Shoemaker took Silver in both the Javelin (111-5) and Shot Put (33-5.25), as well as a Bronze in the 100-hurdles (:16.95).  Clark posted a 2nd in the Hammer (95-1) and third in the Discus (102-6)

The Cougars head to the Moorpark Invitational this Friday their final meet in the Southern Region before the championship meets begin, although the Cougars are still scheduled to attend a meet in Modesto two weeks, just before WSC Prelims.
