
Cuesta Women's Track and Field team posted ten Top 5 performances at the Moorpark Open. The meet offered several non-championship events, but the Cougars early season talent showed through and included four athletes that enjoyed two trips to the podium. Freshman Gwyndolyn Katics led the way on the track with the Cougars only event title. Katics claimed the non-championship 300-meter run (:41.06) and joined Quinn Dubrul, Samantha Duran and Natalie Hewitt for a Silver in the 4x400 Relay (4:27.10). Dubrul also earned an individual Bronze in the non-championship 600-meter run (1:55.00). Returning all-WSC Performers Harper Clark (pict) and Kiana Marie Lambert also made two trips up the podium. Clark took the Silver in the Javelin (95-5) and landed 5th in the Hammer (97-0), while Lambert tore up the track with a Bronze in the 200-meters (:27.27) and 4th place in the non-championship 60-meter dash (:8.23). Rookie Leapers Kristy Huynh and Mia Martin also combined to post a pair of runner-up marks. Huynh travelled 16-2.5 in the Long Jump, while Martin soared 4-11 in the High Jump. Fellow Newcomer Jaide Tappan handled the Discus for Cuesta and grabbed 5th place with a toss of 107-6.
The Cougars next meet is scheduled for February 15 at the Monterey Peninsula's Lobo Open. The Cougars first conference competition and only home meet of the season is the Western State Conference (WSC) North Meet on February 28 (Noon).
