Women's Track & Field Claims Six Titles at WSC North Meet

Cuesta Track and Field hosted six teams for the Western State Conference North Meet and the good hosts took won the event with 1st place overall.  The Cougars posted 155 points, which was just 37 points ahead of runner-up Ventura and 95 points ahead of Bakersfield in Third place.  The women collected eight event titles on the day, including two each from Freshmen Kristy Huynh and Gwyndolyn Katics. Huynh claimed both the Triple and Long Jump competitions, while Katics claimed the 200 (:25.58) and 400-meter runs (:57.53) on her own, before adding a third event title in the 4x400 Relay (4:22.74) with Quinn Dubrul, Natalie Hewitt and Sydney Culp.  On her own, Hewit also posted a 2nd and 3rd place finishes in the 400 (1:21.01) and 100 (:18.29) hurdles, respectively.  In the throwing events, four-time all-WSC Thrower Harper Clark won the Hammer and finished second in the Javelin, before taking the Bronze in the in the Shot Put, behind teammate and event winner Jaide Tappan.  Tappan also took 2nd in the Discus.  Freshman Leaper Mia Martin accounted for the Cougars' final event title, by winning the High Jump.  

The Cougars shall stay close to home for their next event, when they travel to Santa Maria to compete in Allan Hancock's Henry Kirk Invitational next Friday.
