Cuesta College's 2024 Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year Savannah Shoemaker has been selected to the 2023-24 California Community College Athletic Association's Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.
Savannah Shoemaker was an exemplary student-athlete over her three years at Cuesta and, as the recipient of the Cuesta's Warren Hansen Scholar-Athlete of the Year, she reached the highest achievement in both academics and athletics. This year marks the sixth time, since the turn of the century that Cuesta's male and female nominees each made the CCCAA State Honor Roll (Top 15)
2024 Cuesta Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Year Savannah Shoemaker was just as versatile and successful on the field of competition as she was with the books. A two-time State Qualifier in the Heptathlon, Shoemaker returned to the CCCAA State Championships last Spring, after sitting out the 2023 campaign, following an early season injury. She posted two 7th place finishes at the State Meet in the Heptathlon and Javelin and finished her career with four Cuesta All Time Top 10 marks. Shoemaker ranks 3rd in program history for Heptathlon (3,988 points), behind two former State Champions, 4th in Javelin (126-8), 8th in Long Jump (16-11.25), and 9th in Shot Put (36-1.25). In her final season at Cuesta, she also earned all-Western State Conference honors in the Heptathlon, Javelin, 100 Hurdles, High Jump and Shot Put, while also joining the Cougars' 4x400 Relay for another conference title.
Shoemaker, who redshirted in 2022-23, was a two-time all-WSC Academic team member. A Political Science Major, she completed 83.0 units at Cuesta with a near perfect 3.99 grade-point average, while earning Academic Honors in all six of her fulltime semesters. She graduated last spring with High Honors and is completing her studies at the University of California, Berkeley.
