Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month. This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport. Our female selection for March is Track & Field's Kiera Taylor.
Thrower Kiera Taylor has enjoyed a busy and productive freshman year. Taylor began the year earning all-Conference honor as a Middle Blocker with volleyball, before helping Women's Basketball reach the playoffs. She then eschewed the chance to play Beach Volleyball in favor of Track & Field. Her time on the hardwood ended with a playoff loss on February 26 and she headed out to the track. In her first weekend of competition, Taylor posted two Cuesta Track & Field Top 10 marks in the Discus (129-2) and Shot Put (36-11). She now ranks 6th all time at Cuesta for the Discus and 9th in the Shot Put. She claimed the WSC Coastal Meet Title in the Discus and took the Silver in the Shot Put. Taylor also took 3rd in the Hammer with a toss of 89-11 but was about 20-feet short of making the Cuesta All-Time Leaderboard.
Cuesta Track & Field has only two regular season meets left on their schedule, before a month of conference, regional and state competition begins on April 18
