The Cuesta Spikers saw their first action of the Spring last Friday at Taft in a battle of the Cougars.  The Taft Cougars edged out the Cuesta Cougars in five games (25-21, 19-25, 25-19, 25-19, 15-13)  to take the day.  The match was Cuesta's season-opener, but marked Taft's third straight victory to open the season.  The Cougars first outing of the season bodes well for the squads home game this week, which also happens to be against Taft.  Sophomore Nancy Andrade (King City HS), one of three veterans on the Cougars' roster, came out swinging with a team-leading and career-high 17 kills.  She was joined by freshmen Christelle Mouret (Morro Bay HS) and Abby Luciano (Cincinnati, OH), who added 13 and 10 kills, respectively.   Cuesta is 0-1 on the year.  

COMING UP- Volleyball gets a re-match against Taft this Thursday (5 PM), however this time both sets of Cougars will be playing in SLO.
