Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month.  This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport.  Our female selection for September is Freshman Outside Hitter Bailey Woodside.

Freshman Outside Hitter Bailey Woodside has dominated her team's offense. She currently leads the Western State Conference in kills with 239 and averages 3.92 per set.   Woodside, with eleven regular season games left on the schedule, has also moved into range of Courtney Carroll's 2003 Cuesta Season Kill Record of 308.  Beyond her offense, Woodside's all-around play accounts for almost one-third of her team's points each match.  Coach Whitney Meyer says, "She has shown amazing skills as a freshman and helped the Cougars win matches against perennial several playoff teams."   Her career-high 27 kills against Hartnell marked the highest total by a Cuesta hitter since Maddie Honeycutt landed 28 against Santa Barbara on October 11, 2019.  Woodside currently ranks 3rd in the State with 239 kills and her 32 service aces rank both second on the team, behind Setter Hannah Colletti, and 17th in the State.

Women's Volleyball is 10-7 overall and has split their first two Western State Conference matches.
