Women's Volleyball began the second round of Western State Conference play the same way they began the first round, with a sweep of LA Pierce (25-17, 25-22, 25-16). The outcome was never in doubt as the Cougars immediately took control of the match. The victory bumped the Cougars' overall record to 13-10 and moved them to 2-4 against the WSC circuit. Cuesta is in 5th place in the loop's standings, behind three ranked teams and a LA Mission team that squeaked out a five-set rumble at Cuesta in the first round.
If the Cougars can add a couple more wins in the second round against the loop, they should earn another trip to the post-season. The Spikers are on the road next week with their re-match at LA Mission on Wednesday (6 PM) and remain on the road to face #9 Ventura on Friday (6 PM). The Pirates held the Cougars to a season-low 40 points, over three games, in their first-round sweep in SLO.
