Women's Volleyball opened the 2024 campaign with eight matches in the season's first ten days. The Spikers went 2-6 over the stretch and are now ready to return to the hardwood, after taking the last ten days off from competition. This Friday (6 PM), the Cougars host an always tough Monterey Peninsula team. The visiting Lobos are 5-1 and reached the quarterfinals in the 2023 NorCal Regional Semi-Final, before losing to eventual CCCAA Runner-up Feather River.
The Cougars last hit the floor when they played a doubleheader in Visalia on September 3, against host Sequoias and visiting Modesto. The Cougars needed just four sets to beat Modesto (25-23, 17-25, 25-23, 25-23) in the opener, but all three of their victories went down to the wire in regulation. In fact, the Pirates' lone victory provided them the depressing distinction of losing while outscoring the Cougars on the day, 94-92. In the nightcap, Cuesta beat host Sequoias in the opener (25-17), however the host Giants bounced back to take the next two sets (25-12 and 25-17), before squeaking out a 4-set win in overtime, 28-26 and avoiding a fifth set.
