
Cuesta Women's Volleyball returns home to open the Western State Conference schedule in San Luis Obispo. The Cougars, who are riding a five-match winning streak, host Ventura on Wednesday (6 PM) and #16 Santa Barbara on Friday (6 PM). This year the Cougars also chasing their 19th conference championship as they try to hold off the visiting Vaqueros, who won their 17th last year when they tied Ventura, for the WSC's top all time spot. Ventura's tie atop the 2023 standings marked their 13th crown. In 2023, the Cougars finished 5th in the six-team WSC circuit and are two seasons removed from their last playoff berth in 2021.
On Saturday, the Cuesta Spikers nabbed their fifth straight victory against Antelope Valley in Lancaster. The Cougars took down the Marauders in straight sets (25-20, 25-18, 25-20) and were led by 2023 Team MVP Bailey Woodside, who crushed 19 kills to break two-time WSC MVP Julie Coelho's Cuesta Career Record. Coelho posted 577 kills in 2006-07, while Woodside currently sits at 588 kills: including 223 this season. Woodside set the Cougars' single season record with 365 kills as a freshman in 2023.
