Cuesta Women's Volleyball hosted #15 Santa Barbara City for a Western State Conference match and pushed the Vaqueros to four sets. The opening game set the stage as the two rivals split the game's first 44 points (22 to 22), however the Vaqueros pushed through the last three points for the win, 25-22. Santa Barbara City built on their initial victory and used the momentum to take the next set and control of the match, 25-12. Of course, the always eager to compete Cuesta Spikers recovered from the setback and avoided a potential sweep in an epic third set victory, 26-24. The two teams basically traded the first 40 points of that third set, but Cuesta pushed on to game point at 24-21, only to have the Vaqueros rally and tie it up at 24-all. The Cougars finally grabbed the next two points and the set but were unable to complete the overall victory. Santa Barbara City took the next set and the match with their third victory of the night, 25-18. The loss dropped the Cougars to 7-9 overall and 0-2 in WSC play.
Women's Volleyball will enjoy a WSC-Bye next Wednesday and be back in action next Friday (6 PM), when they host Los Angeles Pierce.
