Title: | Assistant Coach |
Coach Tina Bell previously enjoyed a standout career with the Cougars and extended her superior play at the four-year level, despite having to battle through the pandemic. Bell came to Cuesta after a stellar career at Atascadero High and split time in the goal for the Cougars as a freshman. She still earned all-Western State Conference honors as a rookie and returned as the Cougars' starter in 2019, where she was recognized as the best Goalie in the State. Bell was the CCCAA State Athlete of the Month for October 2019 and earned first team honors as an all-American, all-State and all-WSC player, while leading Cuesta to a third straight post-season appearance. After Cuesta, Bell accepted a scholarship to Wagner College in New York, but what would have been her junior season was wiped out by the pandemic. Once cleared to compete, Bell led the Seahawks to a school record 35 wins, against only four losses, and to an undefeated Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference title to secure a NCAA Tournament berth. She also led Wagner University's Women's Water Polo team to the 2022 NCAA Championships. The Seahawks won their openning round game against Salem University, 15-9, before falling to #1-seed and eventual NCAA Champion Stanford, 16-6. She was voted to the 2022 all-MAAC Second Team, despite being tabbed the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week a record a seven times. She was also named to the all-MAAC Tournament team and the all-MAAC Academic team.
