Cuesta's Women Poloists have been going full tilt for the past three weeks but will get a short break after this weekend's Mt San Antonio Tournament. The Cougars are ranked 9th in the State and are 8-5 on the season. This weekend in Walnut they expect to be tested again. Cuesta opens the tournament on Friday with games against Cypress (10:30) and, with a quick turnaround, the host Mounties (12:50). On Saturday, the Cougars have more rest but face a more challenging bracket. Cuesta opens against top-ranked Long Beach City (11:30), before closing the tournament against Fullerton. The Hornets are not currently in the Top 10, but they did push Cuesta to Sudden Death Overtime, 14-13, at Central Coast Classic on September 7.
Last week, Women's Water Polo took their second and final trip to the CCCAA's North Region by attending the West Valley Tournament. The Cougars opened against #4 West Valley and the host Vikings hung a loss, 15-7, on them. Cuesta bounced back to finish the day with a decisive win over Fresno, 12-4. On Sunday, the Cougars' offense abandoned them as they turned in their lowest scoring games of the season with a pair of losses to unranked Merced, 8-5, and unranked San Joaquin Delta, 6-5.
