Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month. This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport. Our female selection for October is First-year Harrier Elle Casselman
2023 State Qualifier Elle Casselman has been the Cougars' top Harrier this season and is set to compete in the 2023 CCCAA State Cross Country Championships in mid-November. This marks her second State Meet of the past six months; last May she took 5th place in the 800m at the CCCAA State Track & Field Championships. Casselman has been the Cougars' top finisher in all seven of her cross country starts and has covered the longer distances, over more treacherous ground, while also posting lower times in every start. Casselman has dropped more than a minute between her runner-up finish at the season-opening Tour de Cuesta and last month's Regional Finals. She has already collected all-Conference First Team and All-Region Second Team honors this season, while posting five sub-20-minute performances.
Women's Cross Country has qualified both Casselman and Summer Gelman as individuals at the 2023 CCCAA State Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno on November 18
