Women's Cross Country started only four runners at last week's Oxnard Invitational and did not score as team, however the Cougars did land three harriers in the Top 20. Reigning Cuesta College Athlete of the Year Elle Casselman led the way with 11th place (20:18.65), while Freshman Serena Stamford and 2021 Cuesta College Athlete of the Year Madeline Fletcher finished just a second apart in 18th (20:41.80) and 19th (20:42.83) places. Freshman Matilda Bravante finished 53rd to complete Cuesta's non-scoring squad.
Women's Cross Country is prepping for its first big test of the season, when the team travels to Rancho Cucamonga for the Southern California Preview. The event will be attended by all the top teams in Southern California and allow the Cougars to gauge where they need to go to return to the CCCAA State Meet in November. The women's race is set to start at 10 AM.
