2021 Cuesta College Athlete of the Year Madeline Fletcher (pict) crushed the competition and took 1st place at the 2024 Western State Conference Championship. Fletcher's winning time of 18:08.5 dropped more than a minute off her best mark of the year, and she became the first Cuesta Harrier to win a WSC Title since Miranda Daschian in 2016.  Fletcher also led Cuesta Women's Cross Country to a 6th place finish at the Regional Meet, as the entire scoring team finished among the Top 50 competitors.  Fletcher returned to Cuesta last Spring as an Assistant Track and Field Coach, after completing her bachelor's degree at St Mary's College, however she also had a year left of eligibility as a harrier.   Last week, she earned all-Region honors after finishing 7th at the SoCal Regional Finals, while the women's team qualified for the 2024 CCCAA State Championships, later this month, for the first time since 2021.
